Our client company, a locally owned and operated machine shop is looking to add a Heat Treat Operator to their expanding team. The right candidate for this for this position MUST have a solid work history, a strong work ethic, and be ready to hit the ground running. Job duties will include but are not limited to.
*Operating heat treating furnaces and quenching equipment to change the physical properties of a wide range of high and low carbon metals where the processes and operations of hardening, carbonizing, drawing and annealing are critical and varied requiring precise control of temperatures, heating cycles and quenching methods to obtain results within strict quality latitudes and to avoid distortions and fractures.
*Select and regulate furnace temperatures for specific treating jobs; visually check materials for foreign matter, lad furnaces and time prescribed heating cycles to bring materials to proper temperatures.
*Operate heat treating draw furnaces to change the physical properties of a range of high and low carbon metals to harden, normalize, carbonize, draw anneal, etc. by regulating temperatures, controlling heating cycles and utilizing methods in accordance with prescribed procedures and specifications for work which is largely repetitive and where operational methods are standardized.
*Regulate furnace temperatures; rack up or pack materials in pots or baskets and load furnaces; time heating cycles; remove materials from furnace in accordance with standard practices and prescribed procedures.
*Work from specifications, charts and instructions.
*Use scale, and other testing instruments to read temperatures and test hardness.
