Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that promote a culture of health and safety within the organization. The EHS Manager will collaborate with various departments to identify potential hazards, conduct training, and ensure adherence to OSHA and EPA standards.
Key Qualifications needed:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that promote a culture of health and safety within the organization. The EHS Manager will collaborate with various departments to identify potential hazards, conduct training, and ensure adherence to OSHA and EPA standards.
Key Qualifications needed:
- 5+ years experience in an Environmental Health and Safety Role
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in an Occupational Safety or affiliated discipline or another applicable technical field (engineering, chemistry, biology)
- Previous experience in a food processing plant strongly preferred
- Provide guidance and support for Process Safety Management initiatives and related programs. (preferably experience with anhydrous ammonia)
- Organizational priority-setting skills, attention to detail, follow-through, effective written and verbal communication
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and assess risks within the workplace.
- Perform root cause analysis for incidents and accidents, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance metrics, incidents, and compliance status for management review.
- Facilitate training sessions on occupational health, safety practices, CPR, and emergency response procedures for employees.
- Manage workers' compensation claims in accordance with workers' compensation law, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a proactive approach to workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
- Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in an EHS role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, occupational health principles, and workers' compensation law.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
- Certification in CPR is preferred; additional EHS certifications are a plus.
- Ability to fabricate safety equipment or solutions as needed to enhance workplace safety.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
