Podiatry Medical Assistant

Job Description

Personnel Resources has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant for a local podiatrist. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the podiatrist in providing high-quality patient care, and performing various administrative and clinical tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences. This is a Try-Hire role in the Dothan, AL area.

Job Description:

  • Greet patients, escort them to examination rooms, and prepare them for the podiatrist's evaluation.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital signs, and reason for visit.
  • Assist the podiatrist during patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Educate patients on proper foot care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures.
  • Collect and process specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and prepare samples for analysis.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the podiatrist.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
  • Manage patient records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
  • Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant documentation.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls, responding to inquiries and directing calls appropriately.
  • Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or diagnostic facilities.
  • Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies.
  • Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and restocking as needed.

Job Requirements and Skills Set:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Certification is preferred but NOT required
  • Previous experience working as a medical assistant
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Pay Rate:

  • $11-12/hr
